new stuff!

I can't believe how time flies anymore! It's been ages (again) since I updated this blog. I've been busy busy busy, and have a lot of projects all under way. I will be starting the 30 critters back up soon, now that I'm getting a bit more caught up, and have some other paintings in progress. But for now I have two things to show. First, I made up a new style of cloth doll, these tiny marmoggs! They're only 5 1/2" tall, and I think they're rather cute!

Next, the amazingly talented Vajra of Conjure Oils has honored me with a fancy label for her Artemis perfume oil from her Mythos line! That is my artwork there, how awesome is that?

Please visit her website, if you enjoy perfume oils, you will love the huge variety she offers.

happy weekend!

I didn't even think about this when I started my Critter Project last weekend, but trying to crank out a new painting every single day, even when they're small, isn't really feasible for me. I am a super slow painter, so even these little critter paintings take a fair chunk of time to complete. I have made the executive decision! I get weekends off of the Critter Project. I'll paint 5 critters a week until 30 have been painted. If I feel moved to paint a critter on the weekend, of course I will. But I also have a ton of other paintings I'm working on at the same time and I'd really like to have weekends free to work on those exclusively. The critters are doing their job, though, they're getting me into a regular painting habit, and that is really the whole point. I've already put in a goodly chunk of painting time today, but not on a critter. I've done 5 critters this week already, so I'm off for the weekend now. See ya with a new one on Monday! :)

Critter #3

Here's the new critter! Sulphur Slug: Space Mollusk.

This little creature was originally an old pencil sketch I drew ages ago. In the drawing, he has no limbs, he's just sort of a furry slug. But I somehow feel that he might need to be reimagined with penguin-like flippers, holding a ray gun.
